The Hubbard Kidnapping

In 1966 Hubbard resigned as president of the Church of Scientology. It was just for show. He continued to direct his religion and secret even as he bought a 40 ton shooner named the Enchanter via the Hubbard Explorational Company. The bulk of its sailors were Scientologists with no practical seafaring experience. One of these volunteer sailors was Virginia Downsboro. She sailed the boat down to Los Palmas and the Canary Islands where Hubbard was waiting for her in a hotel room. In fact as the boat got underway she came to see a new side of her guru.
