There is no longer a location within New York City where we dispose of our own garbage. The last landfill closed in 2001. It's fresh kills on the west central coast of Staten Island. We send it far away. Once they are sorted at facilities in Brooklyn and Queens and New Jersey, they go to nine different states for the next step of their processing.
