In the 1990s, the lad ruled British and Irish pop culture. A show called Men Behaving Badly was emblematic of the era. But times change and so the lad is getting something of a rebrand. Lads are young men from Britain and often Ireland aged 18 to 30. They're not that bothered with sort of intellectual pursuits or sex.
