Shenantonige is in an area called the southern maya lowlands. In this hot, tropical region, there was one force which shaped how they lived: rain. The rural mia had an intimate knowledge of their environment and the plants and animals around them. They successfully cultivated a wide range of crops, from maize, squash and beans to pineapples, chillies and tobacco.
