The Most Significant Abortion Legislation in Congress in the Last Year
It's been a year since the Dobs decision and that sort of opened the floodgates for a lot of abortion legislation both in the states and here on Capitol Hill where we are. So far this year, there's been about 50 bills introduced according to Bloomberg government data that directly relate to abortion. There was one that passed earlier this year that did mandate that health care providers provide the same chair to children who survive an abortion or an attempted abortion. The Senate voted on a bill that didn't become law that would have stopped the Biden administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs from providing abortions under certain circumstances.
