The Latest Discovery About Microbes
A team has been analyzing samples that they drilled from the nankai trough just off japan. The sea floor there is four kilometers down, so rarely deep. At a point two kilometers beneath it, at a point the temperature reaches a hundred and 20 degrees celsius. Even in those extreme conditions, there was still life. What they found was that there were far fewer microbes, but the experiments they did on board the drill ship show that they've got a really high metabolism.
