Introduction
Rebecca Deez-On-Rosa of the University of Chicago is one of the authors of a new study with an innovative way to measure these differences and maybe even to understand why they exist. There's a lot of focus in developing countries on initiatives to try to empower women. Those initiatives could be self-perpetuating because if you empower women, that means that the household overall might spend more on their daughters. So it will be this cycle leading towards greater and greater gender equality over the generations.
