In 20 16, when boris johnson became foreign secretary, this was very soon after the breaket referendum. And already within the first few months, really, people were starting to ask questions about whether there had been any russian involvement in that referendum. That story was kon of the first evidence really, that russia allegedly had been attempting to influence the random result. You can see how that leads to bigger invasions later on.
