The Arts - The Tory Government's Approach to the Arts
A new report has slammed the conservative government's approach to the arts. It says it is complacent and at risk of jeopardising the sector's commercial potential. The artist Peter Doig has been awarded $2.5 million in a long-running legal saga. He was sued by former prison corrections officer named Robert Fletcher. They claimed that he had denied authorship of an early painting made in 1976, making it valueless on the art market. His surname seems likely to be Pete Doig or Doig, whose surname is spelled differently from the famous artist as it is in the signature on the painting.
