Model Based Reasoning Is a Process

Model based inference, for me, is a process. I don't think of it in terms of a statistical test. i think of it as representing a system. We go through this phase of model articulation where we try to think of what are all those salient variables that are operating here? How do we think theyare going to be interfacing with each other? The critical component is reconciling the statistical model with the theoretical model. And how do those two talk to one another? Are we doing no hypothesis testing, or are we doing modelling? Yes, yes, we're doing both.
