Luxury brands are exclusive by definition. Historically, the industry has been centered around Western Europe. It expanded into the US and Japan as globalisation really begins to take off. Now it's also very big in China. Some groups like LVMH, Louis Vuitton, and Hermes, are in vogue. Others, like Caring, look to be falling out of fashion.
