The Relationship Between the Mind and the Body
The mind is not a homogenous mass, even though it does belong to kind of the homogenous mass of all the infinite thinking being of God. So we can only be affected by something physical by its existing physically in taking up space and therefore existing according to God's infinite attribute of extension or of space. And so any time that we engage with something that take up space, we are learning more about that thing. We're learning more about ourselves and our minds grow. If you undergo an experience that leaves a mark on you, you can't just shake it off. It will very much linger - which can make it difficult to actually heal from it afterwards.
