Continuous Glucose Monitoring Data Is a Very Important Metric

Glycemic variability is really defined as fluctuations or changes in the dynamics of blood glucose responses to a two-hour post-prandial oral glucose tolerance test for example. It's typically expressed as glucose levels that are one standard deviation above or below your average 24 hour minimum of maximum levels. We can also think about blood glucose fluctuations at the same time of day on different days so this is a broader definition now of glycemic variability where we can consider intraday variability.
