Is Utilitarianism a Good Argument?

Sally Kohn: I think by default the state is a utilitarian creature okay so for political reasons more than anything else but because you're trying to appeal to a large number of people and improve or at least make the claim that you're improving their happiness. She says there should be a few principles which are just normative that they are the way they are, such as defending the right to life of citizens or free speech in certain cases. But some things shouldn't be looked at in a utilitarian way like Peter Singer argued that it's okay to kill an infant child not a fetus mind you but an infant child if well being of the world goes up under certain conditions she says.
