The Strange Replacement of a Law With Another

Schrodinger's equation was just a mathematical tool and not a model of reality. But 80 years later, these equations have proved remarkably robust. They seem to deliver wherever you apply them, they seem to work. One lives with these mathematics, one imbibes it. It becomes really the world as seen by the physicists. And I think all working quantum physicists have to treat the wave function seriously. The problem is always how to understand its relationship to the macroscopic.
