In his bed at Bethesda Hospital, he's a great man. In St. Paul, Minnesota, Joe was 1,191 miles away from Azula. Lots of people describe him as essentially an infant during that period. He had a tube in his trachea, doing it for him. Because no air past his larynx, he couldn't make a sound. Basically all he had to communicate with were his beautiful blue eyes.
