The Effects of Drought Stress on Fruit Quality

Cotton growers are applying hundreds of pounds of nitrogen per acre side by side with anywhere from 7 to 13 applications of PGRs. We've had some remarkable successes on cotton by just cutting the nitrogen down to maybe 40% of what was originally being applied and just eliminating all the P GRs. There's this parallel example in apple production where a major problem for a lot of apple producers is fruit drop just before harvest, which results from trees that have high concentrations of abscissic acid. And I deliberately chose these two crop examples because there are crops that most of the listeners here on the podcast won't be able to relate to but can sometimes see others more clearly than we can see
