The Importance of Parking in the United States
In terms of square footage, there is more housing for each car in the United States than there is housing for each person. The country builds more three car garages than one bedroom apartments. In reality, there's between two and six spaces available for every parking spot that is occupied. And this ambiguity persists down at the city level to where you'll see in New York City.
