Gone Medieval
00:00
The Albert Memorial Chapel
St George's Chapel was built by Henry the third in 1240 and he dedicated it to St Edward the Confessor because he was obsessed with him. For hundreds of years 200 years or so it was the main chapel but Edward the fourth built the big one which rather overshadows it. People can still go inside the old the original 1240 chapel. They can look at it unfortunately they can't go in because it was substantially redesigned by Queen Victoria as yet another memorial to Albert. It is spectacular inside with a marble engravings and so on very very decorative as you would expect from the Victorian era.
