Tommy bunko: Are there any figures in the story that we can say are really based on historical people, or are they all more symbolic? Well, yes, achilles is merely, or only, or principally, a literary fiction. He is a character in a drama. But would there have been real greeks in the thirteenth century? Remember i said that's when if there was a trojan war, it would have happened. Not impossible. There is absolutely no way of documenting him personally. In other words, there are greek literary texts, or greek written texts of that period. The last of them may have been called homer.
