The Importance of Following Jim Jones
A large part of the people's temple membership always was and always would be elderly women. The money, the jobs and the community care would be integral to the development of People's Temple both in Indianapolis and beyond. Jim also founded a soup kitchen type cafe called the Free Restaurant which served about 2,800 people every week. He organized clothing drives and he put together youth programs that kept kids off the streets.
