With the fall of the roman empire, the art of convex mirror making was nearly lost. But until the twelfth century revival of mero technology in europe, it would largely be a return to silver and bronze mirrors. By the fifteenth century, you had glass makers in germany, france and italy. The venetians really took the ca, particularly on the isle of morano. They held a virtual monopoly on european trade with the east.
