Lesion Symptom Mapping

We looked at the association between lesions to specific components of the temporal lobes and seizure outcomes after patients with drug resistent tempora lobe epilepsy had undergone epilepsy surgery. We did this for 113 patients from three different level four epilepsy centers, two in the us and one in europe. And so we extended this idea of lesion symptom mapping, not just to the structural vaxiles, but also to conactivity based mapping. So we looked at which to structures at a given time lost their ability to coactivate, meaning activate simultaneously, and how that loss led to one seizure outcome versus the other.
