CHAPTER

Aren't Paradoxes and Contradictions Theologically Possible?

Am, i define a contradiction to be a statement that is both true and asa. A paradox is usually used in a way that involves some sort of epistemic. If god grounds being, then aren't contradictions possible elsewhere? Yes, they're logically possible. Nohee seems to me a firm a stopping point for theological ability. It's not possible contradiction.

So
Speaker 2
here's another question from from tanner. Does he believe paradoxes and contradictions are identical.
Speaker 1
Am, i think that one can use the term paradox however one wants. Am, just be clear about how your using it. Am, i define a contradiction to be a statement that is both true and asa. Am, so i slip a, i was about to make every diction true in that slip. M, so i define a contradiction to be any statement of the form where p is any declarative statement in the language. It's true that p, and it's false that p. That's what a contradiction is. A paradox is usually used in a way that involves some sort of epistemic. A, atus. Am, so some peoplewill say a paradox is an apparent contradiction, or it's, it's something that we can't actually believe, right? M, that's where the term comes from, but. Am, i'm happy for people to use it however they want. Am, but it's usually not used just to mean contradiction. A, so the answer on my usage is, no, fair
Speaker 2
enough. Fom theist thinker, if christ can be contradictory by being god, then any contradiction in god must also be possible. But if god grounds being, then aren't contradictions possible elsewhere?
Speaker 1
Yes, they're logically possible. M, and if the question is, are they theologically possible? That is, do those logical possibilities that you're talking about, do they get recognized as theologically possible in the true theology? Am, in the book, the contradictory christ. Am, i say that christ is the lone source of contradiction, and the contradiction arises out of being the incarnate god. A, i do say some things about the trinity in the last chapter, but, a, i bracket those possible divine contradictions. I'm currently just doing one fallow up book called divine contradiction, which focuses just on the trinity and the role of contradiction in am, in the cor trinitarian truths like that father is god, son is god, spirit is god. But of course, it's just false that father is son. Just se that son is spirit, just false that father is spirit. Am, so the short answer is yes. The longer answer is, am, am, they might might be theologically possible everywhere. Am, a, actually, you know what? Nohee seems to me a firm a stopping point for theological ability. You're right about logical possibility, but i would say the goodness of god is not possibly glotty. It's not possible contradiction. Am, i think it's. A, yes, so i don't think it can go all the way out.
Speaker 2
A, headbet.
