Vietnam had no NATO-like Soviet-backed military alliance, but there was nothing like what NATO is. Ukraine has a substantial part of Russian speaking minority population. All of these things don't qualify at all to Vietnam. The US is not at the door of Vietnam. But what's similar is that there's a war of aggression and the Ukrainian people are fighting against it.
