The rise of what came to be called the multi national corporation, which was actually a industrial or manufacturing company. This meant they were engaged in production all over the world. And so there's less of a feeling that industrialists can just kind of live with flation by raising pricest. The vulgar shock also made us exports more expensive. So these companies already struggling to compete with places like japan and germany now had a sort of tional challenge because the dollar had become a lot more expensive.
