At 40 around 40, he left Ireland to go to Scotland. The reasons are somewhat unsure and may have had something to do with a Psalter book. But the upshot is he founded an incredibly famous monastery in Evangelized Scotland. He was excommunicated for some part of the and very trifling reasons and unjustly.
