The Risks of Pneumonia in Children
The first question that you ask yourself is this five year old boy who comes in with an asthma exacerbation and let's say that he's known to have asthma. This is not his first rodeo. Why did we get a chest x-ray in the first place, right? Because that leads you down the pathway to then even considering whether they might have pneumonia. You wouldn't have thought about it if you never got that chest X-ray because you would just would have had a wheezing child who has maybe a little bit of a fever.
