The Perbri Institute and the RNA Training Academy CPI
The Perbri Institute was founded over a hundred years ago and is a world-leading research facility for foot and mouth disease. It's the only laboratory in the UK authorized to handle the foot and mouth virus. Disease outbreaks from coronaviruses, like SARS-CoV-2, are something the scientists here are familiar with. There have been two coronavirus pandemics in the pig population in the last ten years. One of the key tools of pandemic preparedness is surveillance - we can't properly prepare for a disease if we don't see it coming.
