The Argument for Anti-Realism
Realism versus anti-realism is the debate over whether or not science gets at the truth of how things are. Anti-realists say that it doesn't get that the truth have an argument along those lines, right? So why could we hold out any hope that our current theories are anywhere near the truth? But then the flip side of that is like you say, perhaps you alluded to, that these kind of false theories that are are mathematically, seem to be doing quite well. And so there might be some hope there that the maths is describing something that is fundamentally correct,. That's then sustained through the theory change.
