The RBA and the B&M in Malaysia
We expect a pause by the RBA next week but we still have to view that it will follow through with another hike in August given the tight labor market over there. Broadly speaking Asian CPIs have been much lower than what we've seen in Europe in the US. Is it this inflation across the board or could there be some surprises in store for us? This inflation will likely continue across Asia and the reason for a much lower inflation in Asia compared to the western counterpart is likely because the supply side factors like the shop drop in energy and food matters more in Asia. But the central banks are still likely worried about the sticky corn inflation, which has fallen below target since May.
