As you gradually free yourself from egoic consciousness, more and more empathy arises. On a human level, you feel that compassion is very closely related to ampathya. Passion is a feeling can lead to action, but you know that whatever action you take in the face of human suffering is probably limited. And er, i remember various occasions when i felt what you describe, travelling and so on, looking at human suffering, and i wept. That's e human.
