Having an awareness of your breath is arguably one of the most powerful tools we have. Most people can't sit there and be aware of their breath, but practices like papasin have done tremendous work to where it's just a ten-day silent meditation. Just being quiet and paying attention to your breath for maybe two minutes, or five minutes, if you can do that, that is enough. That'll teach you more than most things will cause.
