Is Dignity a Cornerstone of the American Judiciary?
Dignity is important in the law and the justice system because one of the things that the justice system does is that it robs people of their dignity. So much of what we do in the jusetice sysetem tells people they don't matter whether theyare guilty or not. And so when i listen to you, when i acknowledge that your prospective is important, that means i'm acknowledging your dignity as a human being. This is a right that you it's a human right to be able to walk around with your head held high to some level of degree, believing that you matter. If we didn't spend so much time robbing people of it, justice would look different
