The Duality of Humanity
The idea that humanity has the individual capacity for good and evil is very core to Catholic belief. The line that keeps resonating in my head over and over is aligned from a pratchet novel of all things. This can certainly be interpreted as a definite moment of Catholicism within the book of the new sun. But it's interesting that this comes immediately after humanity is where God is. It is the poor of humanity. And so we have within this page, now we have the dual nature of humanity. Humanity is both God and also the torturer, the shadow.
