The Fermi Paradox

The Fermi paradox simply states that it is highly unlikely that there is alien civilizations. So the question becomes, if the universe is 13.2 billion years old, why have we not had some kind of encounter? Perhaps we're not interesting enough, perhaps the universe is too big, perhaps there's so many factors, right? I just think that ultimately bad data could be getting mixed with good data. And perhaps we have had encounters blended in with this experience of no sighting, no data.
