The Importance of Historical Anthropology in Yemen

Yemen is a great example of Highland agriculture, very successful Highland agriculture for several millennia. Yemen is the most fertile part of the Arabian peninsula. There had been hardly any study at all of small scale irrigation from springs in mountain areas. So that became a strong interest within me. And it explains why, as I explained in my book, I consider myself a historical anthropologist,. someone who is interested in the present, because of it can be informed by the past.
