The Importance of Expanding Sexual Intimacy
When there are health issues that prevent intercourse from happening, having an expanded definition of what else we can do can allow the two of you to still have that even if the physical act of intercourse isn't feasible at this point in time. So more opportunities for connection instead of rejection. That's a big thing in marriage because rejection, when it's only about yes or no, are we having intercourse or not, can leave one spouse or the other feeling like I'm not wanted. It took at least some of my many, many, many years to get to this point and to really understand that we can get close and connected in our sexual intimacy in other ways beyond sexual intercourse.
