In the late eighties and nineties in america, you cal see the rise of orthodox jewish. So again, these are all supernatural or faith based, right traditions that have grown in a lot of what woua seen a secular, modern, educated societies. And when those traditions alone don't work, write people who remain frustrated with neo-liberal solutions to problems. It's predictable response of people frustrated with traditional left and right - they're seeking something transcendent which may not be materially viable.
