Amanda gorman's new book, call us what we carry, includes a poem called ships manifest. Gorman: "We are writing with a vanishing meaning. Our words water dragging down a wind shield" The poet says she wasn't writing for readers but to fashion her own thesis statement and create the rest of the book.
