The History of the Samurai - The Hake Mono Gotari

Fishermen started to find crabs that seemed to have the image of a samiri's face on their carapace, and so they'd throw them back in the sea. And if you were a crab that had a face a bit like a samurai on your back, you stood a better chance of surviving. The events of the gn war are recorded in an epic account called the hake mono gotari. It's from the pages of this chronicle that much of the popular mythology surrounding the samurai has been lifted. If a samurai finds himself on the losing side, rather than face the shame of capture, he will choose instead to end his own life.
