How to Write a Film and Direct a Movie

I'm interested in the fact that you are the writer but also the director of all these movies and how much those two roles can be separated. At some point it's better to stand back from it kind of thing and not overwork it. When I'm directing something that I've written myself what happens is that you get so great feeling oh this scene is going to be so fantastic. Every day you go on set you feel completely devastated because it's so awful. It's a process of trying to capture something that feels true and not constructed.
