Academic Freedom and the Hamlin Situation - Is This a Good Idea?
I don't mind that there's a lot of different institutions and I don't even mind that some of them want to go whole hog and we don't care very much about academic freedom on this side. One thing I sort of like about the Hamlin situation in some ways is that that presents much more explicit. And so they won't just say you know what we actually care more about social justice and we care about academic freedom here. There's some institutions that that's what they want to do and they're more willing to be explicit about it. More power to them.
