The Epistemic Cut Between the Animal World and the Human World
There is some capacity in the organism to perceive difference that is meaningful to it again inside a particular context and then it adjusts. So you get these cybernetic loops in all kinds of life forms regardless of this notion of consciousness. This has existed in science and I think it's incumbent on us to realize this has gone out until there was a major declaration in 2012 called the Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness.
