Turkey signed, Turkey's negotiations with the European began on the 3rd of October. Almost before the ink was dry already on the paper, Mrs. Markel expressed her sentiment or her opinion that she really didn't think Turkey belonged as a member in the EU. A year later, Mr. Sarkozy comes and he doesn't think that Turkey belongs in the European Union. So that also gave Mr. Erdogan a sense that the European Union would not play fairly with him as well. We are mostly responsible, but a context also matters.
