What's the Point of Artist Royalties?
Sally Kohn: It reminds me of Taylor Swift and how she does not get, I don't remember where her exact deal is. She's signed with a label very early in her career before she blew up. When you initially produce your art, there isn't usually a lot of value in it, right? You know, it's later that the value is is accrued over time,. Your value creates because people care about your art. And so that's why it makes sense for there be royalties back to those people.
