What Does Eleanor of Aquitaine Tell Us About Crusading?
There are some significant women of the elite who were heavily involved in crusading. What does her experience on crusade tell us about the experiences of potentially of other women who were involved in this movement? Eleanor was actually involved in two crusades the second crusade where she went with her first husband Louis VII of France and then the third crusade she didn't go herself but she supported her son Richard the line heart who was on the third crusade and after he was captured she raised the ransom. A woman traveling not by herself because she would have an armed force with her is always at risk.
