The Celts were the majority of Western Europe from about 800 BC on. But they began to look like a distinct ethnic group after Anglo-Saxons arrived in Britain. The Romans themselves didn't really know who the Celts were. Today we think of Celtic peoples in Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Brittany and Cornwall.
