Music and the Harlem Renaissance
In other novels and poetry of the harlem renaissance, we often music being used to represent black identity. Leading intellectuals like duboys, locke, hurston, robeson and johnson were not the only ones to see music as a central occasion for raising such questions. Robison himself chose to embrace universalism in both his art and his politics. He sang folk songs in many languages and outspokenly decrying oppression wherever it arose,. regardless of what he called national units.
