The Importance of Observing the World

Nick Bostrom's book Superintelligence was published 10 years ago now. At the time, it was just a curiosity of nerdy tech types concerned about this kind of thing. I didn't really think it was having an effect on the culture. The reason why Eliaza Yudkowski and Sam Harris say what they do is in large part because of Nick Bostrom. If you believe in the authority of experts, then what greater expert could you have than Oxford professor David Deutsches? It hasn't remained angry geeky subculture for very long - not yet anyway.
